The basic idea
- You create a tunes.fund account and monthly subscription.
- You link your tunes.fund account with your
account. You can use a free
account.
- On connection, tunes.fund will create an empty, private playlist in
titled "tunes.fund".
- Add artists to your "tunes.fund" playlist. Do this from this site or the
app.
- tunes.fund will distribute those funds directly to the artists monthly.
- Your name/data will not be shared with anyone (artists, other users, any 3rd party).
Small playlists to local musicians work best
Playlist Notes
- Your "tunes.fund" playlist is create as private but you can make it public in the
app if desired.
- You can change the name of your "tunes.fund" playlist in the
app if desired.
- You can create a new "tunes.fund" playlist in
in the Account Info page.
How we distribute payments
- Funds are distributed per track with no consideration for track length.
- If the same artist appears on multiple tracks in your playlist, they will be funded multiple times per track.
- Funds are distributed to each artist listed (according to
) on the track evenly.
- For example if you give $4 a month and have 4 tracks in your playlist:
Track Artists Fake Summer Song Jill the Artist Fake Summer Song Remix Jill the Artist Fake Spring Song Johnny the Artist Fake Winter Colab Dan the Artist, Beth the Artist
Artist Funding (before service charges) Jill the Artist $2 Johnny the Artist $1 Dan the Artist $0.50 Beth the Artist $0.50 - Funds are only distributed to living artists.
- Payouts from tunes.fund users are combined monthly for a single payout to the artists.
- tunes.fund takes a 10% service charge to any payout to an artist approved account.
- Payouts over 6 months old will be redirected as donations to Save The Music (minus a 5% service charge in addition to credit cart fees.)
- tunes.fund is a for-profit business and is not affiliated with
or Save The Music
- tunes.fund will not refund any payment to a tunes.fund user after the end of the calendar month.
At the beginning of each month
- Payouts are generated for all artists from active playlists using subscription fees from the previous month.
- For example with these tracks from 2 tunes.fund users:
User Track Artists Payment Dan A Fake Song with 2 Artists Artist 1, Artist 2 $4 Jan A Solo Song Artist 1 $5 -
Artist 1 would get a $7 (minus a service charge) payout ( $5 + $4/2 ) from the tracks that Dan and Jan listened to.
Artist 2 would get a $2 (minus a service charge) payout ( $4/2 )from the track that Dan listened to. - tunes.fund only processes payouts (after all user payouts are combined) of at least $5.
- tunes.fund will notify artists of the payment and will make payments according to what the artist specifies on their
Fan Support Link.
- tunes.fund stores the payout details which will be visible to the artists receiving the payout and users contributing to the payout.
Payouts rollover
- tunes.fund attempts to contact artists for payouts at least monthly for 6 months.
- Payouts will rollover month to month during that time.
- Payouts that cannot be made will be converted to credits for the following month. For example, if you have a $5/month subscription and a $1 payout to an artist is refused by the artist, the following month $6 will be distributed to the following month's artists.
- Payouts over 6 months old will be redirected to donations to Save The Music(other charities may be chosen but will be listed here).
Service Charges
- tunes.fund will take a 10% service charge to any payout to an artist approved account.
- tunes.fund will take a 5% service charge for expired payouts made to charities.
Payouts Privacy / Transparency
- Payout totals to artists are viewable by any tunes.fund user who contributed to the payout.
- Artists can contact support to see a report of their payout totals.
- Users who contributed to that payment will not be shared.
- For example, if an artist receives a $10 payout, the only information about that payout the artist (or any one else) will see is the total of $10. No user data will be shared, even including how many users contributed to the total.
- tunes.fund will never share any data about our individual users to any third party.
